What is SmartLouvre?
SmartLouvre is a screen of tiny bronze louvres that is installed in an aluminum frame on the outside of the window.
The louvres are angled so as the sun rises, they gradually block out the sun and provide your building with total shade, reducing temperatures and eliminating glare.
Each louvre is only 0.050" wide, so while SmartLouvre blocks 86% of the heat and ALL the direct sun it still provides perfect visibility to the outside.
How does it work?
Each SmartLouvre screen is made up of hundreds of tiny louvres, each inclined to approx. 27°.
As the sun's rays travel in a straight line at dawn and dusk when the sun is at an angle of 0°, light and heat enter directly into the building, however, as the sun rises in the sky, the screens block out the harmful effects of the sun.
Once the sun reaches an angle over 35° inclination, SmartLouvre blocks 100% of the sun's direct rays.
4% of the radiation is immediately reflected and 82% is absorbed by the screen and radiated outwards. This signifies an 86% reduction in heat gain! Typically temperatures next to the window will be reduced by 10°F or more
