Architectural Glazing using our MicroLouvre® is efficient and effective.
MicroLouvre® metal fabric can be laminated with any combination of glass to form a completely unique architectural glazing and solar control glazing, providing a new and exciting dimension to high performance glass aesthetics, designed to maximise both appearance and function.
The MicroLouvre® interlayer can be natural bronze or painted any colour and can be full colour printed to present any image, logo or message. MicroLouvre® can be tensioned intra glass panels to form a unobtrusive extra mid-pane barrier which provides the wide range of performance benefits for solar control, glare control, perfect outward vision and daylighting whilst providing a sleek and uniform building exterior for onlookers.

MicroLouvre® Lamination
Lamination is where the layers of glass and MicroLouvre® are fully bonded together with EVA or PVB under pressure and heat, to create one single, completely sealed and autonomous unit, suitable for use in a wide range of applications and climatic conditions.
Because it is the thinnest louvre system, it is easily laminated into glass using either a PVB or EVA bonding system to create one single enhanced glass sheet which can then be incorporated in to any glazing combination.
MicroLouvre® Lamination combines all of the advantages of the MicroLouvre® metal fabric into a comprehensive high performance glazing system with amazing aesthetic effects.

MicroLouvre® IGU
IGU is where the MicroLouvre® interlayer is incorporated under tension in the air gap between the glass.
In triple IGUs MicroLouvre® would normally be installed between the outer panels of glass for optimum effect.
As the MicroLouvre® is not bonded but maintains an air gap the IGUs retain the original visual and directional performance characteristics of the micro louvres.

MicroLouvre® Encapsulation
Encapsulation is where the the MicroLouvre® interlayer is simply and easily ‘sandwiched’ snugly between but not bonded to, the glass thereby retaining the original visual and directional angular performance characteristics of the micro louvres.
By incorporating MicroLouvre® metal fabric, intra pane, into the IGU, solar heat gain performance is improved by nearly 100% in standard clear double glazing.
Even with Low E Glazing, solar heat gain can be improved by up to 80% whilst maintaining all of the other benefits of MicroLouvre® metal fabric.
Impressive metrics
The ultra-thin, lightweight miniature louvre system adds only adds 1.55mm (0.061”) thickness and only 1.1 kg (2.43 lb) per square metre, yet there are 17-18 paper thin louvres in every 25mm (1”) and the MicroLouvre® interlayer can be used with the micro louvres horizontal, vertical or at any angle.
The MicroLouvre® metal fabric interlayer can be used in:
- Window Systems
- Door Systems
- Internal Glazing
- Glass Partitions
- Roof Glazing
- Glass Flooring
- Balustrades

How it works
How does MicroLouvre® Koolshade® work?
MicroLouvre® Koolshade® invisibly neutralises solar heat gain and glare before they even reach the window. MicroLouvre® uniquely works non-stop providing dynamic g-value (heat blocking) performance to continually dissipate the sun’s heat and energy into the atmosphere but not blocking vision out, natural daylight or natural ventilation; solar shading using our products is efficient and effective.
