Using our Cable Installation system gives a fantastic Industrial Aesthetic to Solar Shading.
For Industrial Scale Projects through to Light Commercial & Domestic installations, the cable size, tension and strength, is determined by the loads of each project requirement.
Our team of expert engineers use sophisticated software to calculate and deliver plans and options to maximise shading whilst creating a robust and attractive outcome.
For larger scale projects it is possible to combine various installation techniques, direct to glass for example, to complement the existing structure.
This can be seen on the Suffolk County Council Headquarters (Endeavour House) below.
Endeavour House, with its glass curtain walls, cantilever walkways and offices with windows that look into the concourse, is a truly magnificent looking building.
The use of horizontal shading fins was woefully inadequate against summer sun, and as experienced in 2022, simply ineffective against temperatures above 40°.
KoolShade® stops Solar Heat Gain and dramatically lowers internal building temperatures.
It's very simple to fit. Retrofitting to buildings, using either frames, cable systems or outriggers, will enhance the aesthetic of any building and is proven to last many decades. Over 60 years for many installations.
The use of KoolShade® has added a stylish envelope to a section of the building which brings thermal comfort to those inside. KoolShade® is a highly efficient and versatile woven metal fabric. Its micro-louvres are set at specific angles to stop solar heat gain and glare, and is fire-safe .
KoolShade® will balance the problems of solar heat gain, maintain contact with the outside & high natural daylighting & ventilation - in one simple system.
The areas that are protected by KoolShade® are glare-free, but more importantly, aren't made unbearably hot and kept cool by blocking Solar Heat Gain.
When a workplace becomes too hot, symptoms of heat exhaustion may start suddenly, and include:
In the UK, legislation has been set in place to ensure that the external walls of buildings should adequately resist the spread of fire over the walls and from one building to another. The legislation is included in Approved Document B - Fire safety. KoolShade® is fully compliant.
KoolShade® Fabric & Frames are produced and manufactured in the UK to ISO: 9001 2015 Quality Standards.
It is not always essential to cover the extent of glazing or other fenestration to create a more comfortable environment. The Huu-ay-aht First Nations (Vancouver Island BC) were helped to identify a specific section of elevation that that caused the overheating and glare problem.
KoolShade® Screens have been installed and this beautiful building is now cool and glare free.
Offsetting KoolShade® Screens from a building has been a successful strategy for keeping Solar Heat away from buildings and walkways for decades. As seen in this Kansas Shopping Centre in 1963.
