Metal Fabrics

KoolShade® metal fabric is only 1.55mm, and each louvre measures only 1.25mm x 0.30mm, as thin as a human hair. The fabric has an open area of 80% and weighs just over a kilo per square metre unpainted.

Multiple performance benefits

Its multiple performance benefits operate simultaneously and in combination, making it the best shade, light and glare solution for a multitude of sectors from sun control to lighting.

The micro louvres can be angled between 0° - 16° but for vertical solar shading uses, the fabric is woven at an optimum 17°. A low sun angle fabric is also available.

metal fabric

How it works

Our technicians weave metal wire and louvres to create a high-performance metal fabric. The louvres are micro fine, and angled at a level to ensure optimum light in, and visibility out, whilst blocking heat, glare and even external viewing in. It’s known as angular selective technology.

metal fabric

How it’s made

KoolShade® is woven from corrosion-resistant, non-combustible, recycled copper alloys (bronze), making it a highly durable and long-lasting, environmentally friendly product. Whether your project is for solar shading, privacy, or lighting, MicroLouvre KoolShade® comes in a wide variety of colours, sizes, and installation options to fit your specific requirements.

KoolShade® FABRIC IS WHAT WE WEAVE.

KoolShade® is a woven fabric. It’s made in the same way fibre yarn is woven into a typical textile fabric, but the result is very different.

A result of decades of extensive international research and development, KoolShade® is a high-performance, woven metal fabric, with its weft constructed of bronze louvres. It can be used in its fabric form or tensioned in a frame, for controlling and diffusing sun, light and air.

The micro-fine louvres are angled to suit a number of applications, whether to ensure optimum light in or redirect light, whilst blocking heat and glare, or to allow ventilation and filtration of air.

Its multiple performance benefits operate simultaneously and in combination, making it the best shade, light and glare solution for a multitude of sectors from sun control to lighting.
